Merseybeat, Cornwall, France and Spain!

About imageAbout imageAbout image
Vince Tracy worked as a radio presenter with BBC Radio Merseyside in the early 1970s while he was a  club DJ around Merseyside. A fire in Birkenhead Market was a major turning point in Vince's life when water damage from that fire closed the Hamilton Club and Vince's job with it. Eventually Vince developed a sales career becoming the Northern Division Field Sales Manager and Sales Trainer with a national blue chip brokerage company in the food business.

Alongside his sales career Vince developed music skills playing guitar and harmonicas to add a new dimension to his performance skills. The riots in Liverpool in the 1980s prompted ideas of a move to Cornwall with a subsequent return to study leading eventually to degrees and academic qualifications as both a Lecturer and Qualified teacher in Cornwall.

During his first degree Vince returned to Broadcasting but this time in Brittany, France. After many years in Cornwall Vince and the family moved to a new life in Spain with a full-time radio job as a presenter with national broadcaster Onda Cero. He also developed his cabaret shows in Benidorm eventually leading to performing his rock n roll act in USA, Australia, France and Spain and beyond.

Vince developed the idea of podcasting around 2008 as the recession in Spain forced Onda Cero
to close their international branch in Altea. His love of music was developed during his years as a club and radio DJ and he was an all-round sportsman with trials at Tranmere Rovers and representing the Liverpool Shipping League underpinning his love of football. He also played in pro/am games with World Cup stars and great names from the world of showbiz. Vince also played first team Rugby Union and was a second Dan Judo instructor and international judoka

Garabandal-The village of San Sebastian de Garabandal

We visited the village of Garabandal on 18th September 2023. The Garabandal apparitions are apparitions of Saint Michael the Archangel and the Blessed Virgin Mary that are claimed to have occurred from 1961 to 1965 to four young schoolgirls in the rural village of San Sebastián de Garabandal in the Peña Sagra mountain range in the autonomous community of Cantabria in Northern Spain. The Virgin Mary in this series of claimed visitations is often referred to as "Our Lady of Mount Carmel of Garabandal", because her appearance and dress looked like portrayals of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The bishops of Santander have yet to identify anything to indicate an occurrence of supernatural nature.

Covadonga, Asturias, Spain

We visited Covedonga on 18th September 2023. Tradition and History associate the origins of the Kingdom of Asturias with two names: Pelayo and Covadonga, a protagonist and a setting in which, at the start of the 8th century, a series of episodes took place – a reality for some and legend for others -, considered to be the first rebellion of northern Christianity against the Moorish control established on the Peninsula a few years earlier. The Valley of Cangas de Onís, the Picos de Europa and the Auseva mountain, would have witnessed the rebellion chosen by Pelayo as leader -three centuries ago this year-, and which would soon be responsible for the legendary military episode (battle or skirmish), on the slopes of this small mountain.

Sin embargo, el Obispo de Bilbao aprueba la devoción a la Virgen María de acuerdo con el Magisterio de la Iglesia, bajo la advocación de Virgen Pura Dolorosa en .

The Importance of Easter
  •  19/8/2020 12:00 AM

Easter or Resurrection Sunday, is a Christian festival and holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. It is described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus Christ, preceded by Lent which is a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.

Easter/Passover
  •  22/7/2020 12:00 AM

The English term is derived from the festival of the Anglo-Saxon Spring goddess Ēostre; Easter is also linked to the Jewish Passover by its name, by its origin (according to the synoptic Gospels, both the crucifixion and the resurrection took place during the week of Passover). In most European languages, both the Christian Easter and the Jewish Passover are called by the same name; and in the older English versions of the Bible, as well, the term Easter was used to translate Passover.

Visiting the Vatican

Just look at the size and enormity of St Peter's Basilica at The Vatican. Yes! That's me at the Saturday mass in Rome and we've all seen it on the television yet to be there was mind-blowing. How did they build these wonderful churches? How could they paint on the ceilings and make everything so ornate? Yes! I was gobsmacked and I can't wait to visit again.
